Offset Backing Right/Left
You may be asked to back into a space that is to the right rear of your vehicle. You will drive straight forward the outer boundary. From that position you must back the vehicle into the opposite lane until the front of your vehicle has passed the first set of cones without striking boundary lines or cones.
The key is to make sure you listen to the instructor to hear where to start, where to finish and what to do when you finish.
The following is only a SAMPLE of how you may be instructed to perform this skill.
- Proceed to the given boundary.
- Reverse to the opposite lane.
- When your FRONT end has passed the first set of cones, stop the truck, pull the parking brake and honk the horn to signify that you are complete.
